Welcome to Novar Sawmill
A modern, progressive manufacturing business using local timber, just north of Inverness.
There has been a sawmill at Novar Estate for over 150 years but in recent times, Novar Sawmill has embraced modern CNC technology to make final products from its sustainable, natural resource. The supply of Larch, Douglas, Spruce and Pine comes directly from the Novar forest.
From Forest to Form
The Novar forest plan sets out the harvesting and replanting programmes that allow for a continuous supply of timber into the sawmill with minimal haulage.
From their arrival on site, logs of up to 900mm diameter and up to 9m in length pass through a horizontal band saw to break them down into useable elements. From there, they may be broken down further or passed to the moulder-planer and to one of the CNC machines.
The final product is precision cut, shaped and accurately pre-drilled where necessary to make for trouble-free assembly.
